Bike ride to the Colca Canyon

Picked up by Saul and Carlos our guide and driver and were taken up to the highest we have been so far in Peru...4850m - Patapampa. We got on our bikes and rode down (1200m in altitude!) for about an hour and a half. The windy road was paved (to be our only one on this bike riding tour) and steep in parts but fun! Dad had a go at off road with Saul while Mum and I chickened out and just took the road down into Chivay.

It was here we had lunch and checked into our very nice hotel and had a short siesta before making our way up to do a ride along the Colca river - another Inca trail! The views and the ride were magic.

We were then rewarded...again with a lovely relax in the hot springs at the end of the trail.

We were then taken to a restaurant for dinner where a band was playing and a couple showed us their traditional dancing. Check out this guy and his style!

  1. (Hils here)That is so cool, you guys sure look like you have soaked up the culture, you looked like a couple of 'locals' on the dance floor.
